'87 350 TPI Idle Problem
I am looking to buy an 87 Camaro with the L98 V8 (350 TPI, A4). It has been sitting for the last 6 years in storage, and they just brought it home today. When started, it idles very rough - if you let it idle, it idles rougher and rougher and eventually stalls. Gets a bit better when it gets hot, but not much.
Now, since it has been sitting for 6 years, this could be a number of things (old gas, spark plugs, head gasket), but I am mainly wondering about the TPI system. 87 was the first year that the L98 V8 was mass produced, so I am just wondering if the TPI system is temperamental or not.
If it is, could this be what is causing the idle problem?
If not, does anyone have an idea if something expensive (or difficult to replace) could be causing this problem? The car is not very expensive ($2800) and I don't wanna have to replace something worth more than the car itself.
Thanks!
