oxygen sensor problem

i have a 91 z28. ok well theres little space as is to get to this. so i rent the oxygen sensor tool.. and the o2 sensor comes right out. no problem. but i noticed that the one i bought is a little different(bosch) no problem. then when i try to put the new one i notice that it goes in but i cant torque it becouse of the stupid exhoust bolt thats connecting the exhoust manifold to the exhoust pipe.. ... the bolt is kinda long and it blocks the 02 sensor to fully going in..once im ready to torque it in i cant becouse it hits the bolt..i returned looked at another brand and its still being blocked...the only way i see it its to grind the bolt down.... but i dont have space to do any of this...sucks. anyone else have this problem or how to get around it

Can you get a wrench down on it? Looks like from the top right of that picture you could get a wrench down on it. Or, can you back that bolt out on the exhaust to make room?

Re: oxygen sensor problem

Thats a stud and by the looks of it, fairly recently replaced so it shouldnt be totally frozen. Use the double nut method to back it down some

Jam two nuts together, and turn it like a bolt. How about torching it off? Just hit it with a cutting torch so you can tighten down the sensor.
