Acceleration is crappy and RPM needle jumping?

I have a 1989 Firebird formula 350 when it first starts up it seems fine but after a few miles it lacks power and if I floor it the RPM needle skipps and jumps and somtimes the passing gear wont kick in. Also when I slowly accelerate it gets shakey and boggy. Please whats wrong and is it one thing or many?

Re: Acceleration is crappy and RPM needle jumping?

Sounds like an ignition issue. Maybe a bad coil or a failing ignition module. The tach jumping is from the ignition intermittently cutting out under acceleration.

Your plug wires are bad. sounds like some are burned thru and shorting to ground.
