engine shakes at idle, tapping noise, bad tensioner?
ok so my 305 TBI, has the serpentein belt, belt tensioner wabbles a bit and i was wandering if that could make the engine shake a lil at idle, and make a tapping noise. It shakes though out the whole rpm range except for high high rpms. Its performance is still good, its a mystery to what can be, could it be bad rod or this tensioner? I mean this thing has no performance issues what so ever. Any info would help
Thanks, Alex

Easiest way to check, take the belt off and start the car. Do not run it long like this as you will have no coolant flow. Just long enough to see if it's causing the problem which shouldn't take more than 15-20 seconds. When my tensioner was bouncing all over the place though, it didn't cause any other issues other than playing bouncy castle with the belt.
