Timing chain sounds
I own a 88 camaro base with LO3 v8 I recently purchased it in april of this year and it sat for two years before i bought it. At around 750 rpms theres a really noticeable almost rattling sound coming fom what i beleive is the timing chain. has anyone else had this problem before? So far it has not affected performance or anything but it is really annoying thanks.

Re: Timing chain sounds
Is it coming from the timing chain cover area? Its always possible for one of the cam bolts to back off if the cam was changed. It could also be a severe slop issue in the chain. Id pull the timing chain cover and have a look. Be aware that you have to drop the front of the oil pan slightly to get the TC cover back on, which can be a pain in itself.

You may also want to double check and make sure its not an accessory like the smog pump, water pump, belt tensioner, etc. All of which can make noises that will sound like theyre coming from that area of the engine.
