Engine changed?
Hi everyone
Recently ive been told that my engine in my firebird 1987 is not the original one. It should be a v8 305 4bbl i think.
How can i check what engine i have?
I know there should be a number on the back of the engine on the right side when you stand in front of the car but its impossible to see.
Any other suggestions?
If you guys need any photos just tell me and i will fix it.
Excuse my bad english and i hope you understand

Re: Engine changed?
Whats the 8th digit of the vin #? This will tell you what engine you should have in it.
Vin H = Carbed
Vin F = TPI W/ Roller Cam
Vin 8 = 350 TPI
If you want to see what you have in there now, grab the casting numbers off the rear of the block and pull the valve cover to get a head casting number and we can cross it over for you.

Re: Engine changed?
If the block hasn't been decked, you can pull the codes off the pad in front of the passenger side head. That can tell you what the engine came from.
