pinched vent line???

if my car is empty and i fill it up i dont have a problem but if the gas tank is over half and i fill it i have to fill it very very very slowly and hold the nozzel up or it will shoot gas back at me..WHY? its extreamly annoying. the weather has nothing to do with it itll happen in 30 degrees all the way up to 90* so the only thing i can think is a pinched vent line on the gas tamk? any ideas before i remove my tank?

thanks!

Re: pinched vent line???

Are you in a state with those funky vapor capture boots on the filling nozzle?

Cause there should be plenty of vent space around the nozzle in the hole (but I don't know how those funky boots work as we don't have them here).
