No power
I have a weird ongoing problem with my 88 GTA. The issue is this, I will be driving, go to pass someone, and have no power, car runs, but when in gear and pedal all the way down the car doesnt pick up speed, if i put it into neutral and press gas the rpms jump up, back to gear and nothing
To fix this issue i simply shut car off, start it right back up and im good to go
I have noticed that the issue starts if I am in third gear and the rpms hits yellow b4 i shift to 4th
any ideas?
car is 305 TPI, 5 speed, 1988 TA GTA

Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: No power
Fuel delivery
Start with a new filter
It's not the shutting off that fixes it; it's the time spent idling (full fuel pump capacity in effect, very small engine demand, allows the pressure to build back up)

Re: No power
thanks for the quick reply, I changed my fuel filter 3 weeks ago, issue continues
is it computer related or tranny? as shutting car off and starting again and issue is gone
other things replaced, spark plugs, distributor, wires
thanks in advance

Tape your fuel pressure gauge to your windshield, and make the car do it. Note the reading WHILE IT'S IN THE ACT OF SCREWING UP... sitting in the driveway idling, won't get it.
