Today while i was driving my battery charge guage dropped to the red zone so onm the guage 8, then the radio stopped working followed by my dash tach and all other guages, i stopped for a stop sign and the car died. the battery was dead as i was only getting clicking noises until i got jump started......Does this sound like just a simple dead battery or do i have more isues to worry about

Sounds to me like your alternator died. When the alternator dies, the car loses it's charging capability and will run on the battery till the battery is dead. When this happens it'll start to lose all ancillary components..the radio, lights, etc as it dies. Then when the battery dies there's no power for the motor.

Now, if the battery had died, the car would run until you shut it off because the alternator alone will run the car.

So, I'd take your alternator out and bring it to Sears, Autozone or O'Reillys or whatever it is you have in your area and have them check it out.

Re: Electrical Issues

Oh yeah..easy as heck to check though brother. Just go up to ANY auto store with it even on teh car if you want..and they will check it for you for free. IF its only a year old, and you can remember where you bought it, then a warranty may still be in effect!!

Re: Electrical Issues

i own a 1990 camaro rs 305(L03) efi 700R4 3.42:1 rear gear. TCC does not lock up. 65 mph@ 3300 RPM. read that a guy could use a toggle switch to bypass tcc system with port A and port F on ALDL. any risk there? any better ideas? money is kinda an issue

Re: Electrical Issues

I am VERY new to this forum to brother. But come from another forum where I am a chapter leader..i can promise you that NO forum likes it when you hi jack a thread. You may want to consider making your own thread. For obvious reasons, as well as many more people will see it and hopefully be able to help you out.

LOL I've bought a new alternator only to have it go bad on the drive home from Autozone...so yes, it's possible. With Electronics, you're flirting with death. It's not "If" it' goes bad, it's when. Some times that's 10 years from now...or more. Friend of mine here has an 87 T/A. Never had to replace the alternator. And sometimes it's a day...
