Is this oil pan worth it
I have a 383 engine in the shop. We are shooting for 500hp. I am trying to use all the best parts for this build. The guy building the motor is always telling me about different ways to grab a few extra HP's here and there, so I wanted to run this one by you guys.
Moroso 21017 oil pan
He says this oil pan is well worth the $450.00 it is going to cost me to get it up here. He says I will pick up a few extra HP's as well.
Have you guys used this pan or do you think it's worth the $$
I am just worried it will not fit on my 82 TA with headers.
Thanks

A beat up old stock pan is just as effective, has better clearance, and costs a hell of a lot less.

I know the stock pan cost alot less. I was just wondering if the Partition Louvered Windage Tray and the 7 Quart Capacity is a great upgrade over a stock pan.

I wouldnt bother with a fancy oil pan unless you were gonna drag or road race it constantly. High G's and oil moving away from the oil pump pickup and all that.
$450 I'd save and put towards something else. A roller cam setup or something.
It's a nice part and no one is gonna say "Man you wasted your money!", but it really depends on what other corners you're gonna have to cut to afford it. If it means pulling money away from a roller cam setup or some good rods or some good pistons, or good heads, then dont bother. If you're just looking for cherries to put on top, (or the bottom)and you have everything else covered and you just want to blow some more money... That's a different story.

Yes, this is what i am started to think. I don't think it would be worth the money on a street car. This is just what the guy building my motor was recommending. I really don't want to get into cutting my k member.
Anyone recommend a nice pan that will work without mods to the car?
