Gas fumes coming from engine after swap
About 2 weeks ago I had my stock 350 pulled and replaced with a new 383 stroker. It seems like everytime I run the car and park it in the garage now it stinks the garage up with gas fumes. I usually have to leave the garage door open for about 1-2 hours before the smell leaves. Once the car cools after that time it really no longer smells. What could be causing this? Just a little background, I had the stock 350 pulled and a 383 put in by a local shop. I also had to replace the stock TBI system with a aftermarket FAST EZ-EFI system in order to achieve the 500hp the engine produces. I know they removed the smog pump and rebelted the pully system to run correctly. Other then that I know they didn't remove or do anything else special. When I contacted the shop they in a way blew me off and said that's likely due to the new motor burning in. Is that right? Someone help before my garage blows UP!!

Doesn't seem like too bad of a problem, but I can't really tell you why it's happening

Re: Gas fumes coming from engine after swap
I had bad gas smell after running in my garage. The problem turned out to be porus fuel lines on the EVAP system. I replaced them all that are near the canister. It's all good now. Sniff up close to it and you can tell.
The other problem I suspect with yours, because you recently did and engine swap, is that you might have a leak on the fuel line junctions (possibly the "O" rings). Again, use your sniffer to zero in on the leak.

No, the fuel line was supplied with the FAST kit. They where all of a rubber looking material when I looked under the hood. The smell is coming from under the hood, However it's kinda hard to tell as it seems the fumes are being emitted from both sides of the engine. I don't see any leaks as far as fuel itself is concerned. Would a exhaust leak off the headers cause the fuel smell? The gaskets that came with the Hooker headers they put on where not sealing for crap and are causing quite a bit of leakage around the headers. I ordered some Percy gaskets from Jegs to hopefully seal and fix this problem.

Sounds like they didnt hookup your charcoal canister and your gastank is venting pressure out of the hoses. Not sure what side your line is on but on the birds its a small metal vac line along pass frame rail.
It is prolly open on your car.
