car ran bad today
car ran bad today
so i went to the track today my 89 iroc is all stock and the car was acting up as soon as i got on the gas right out of the hole. i had major power loss it feels like its a bad tps but its not..... i dont know where to start or what to check...
Re: car ran bad today
being way to vague.
Could be so many things.
Be a little more specific please.
Bogging? Backfiring? what have you checked so far?
Could be anything from bad gas to a furby crawled down your intake manifold and is riding a piston like a pony.

its basically bogging down. at least thats what it feels like...like if the car was out of fuel but its not out of fuel. when i give it gas it goes but when am at wot it just boggs down and does not go anywhere.

If it only happens at WOT i would first assume fuel delivery/ignition.
Could it be knock retard? Anyway to datalog?
Re: car ran bad today
yeah it happen twice at wot and once at idle. i step on the gas pedal and its not responding how it usually does. it was fine last week. it just started to act up today i wish i had a way to datalogg ? am new at working with this amazing cars am guessing its got to do with spark and or fuel delivery i just dont know where to start. what do u recommend i start checking?
Re: car ran bad today
at idle too? hmm. Its hard to help troubleshoot not being able to lay hands/eyes/ears on the car.
Start with the basics. Check your spark plugs and wires. Distributor cap and rotor, inspect them before replacing them though. If you havent had a basic tune up recently, might as well try. Plugs are cheap and easy.
Also try and be more specific, at what RPM do you feel the power loss? auto or manual? does it feel like the engine is revving and no power is put to the wheels? or does it feel like the engine its self is not producing the power and is bogging/hesitating/misfiring etc. Trying to help
