can someone tell me what this part is under hood?...for rear windshield wiper/washer?
Take a look at the picture, see the cylindrical item with a green wire plugged in at the top....what does this do for a living?
Has a hose attached to one port on side that goes into the firewall, other port has nothing just points straight down.
Almost looks like windshield washer pump, however thats attached to the motor on the firewall right?
Its an 86 IROC 5.0 TPI automatic

I kind of want to say it has something to do with a clutch...but your car is auto, not really sure what it is though.

thats a wiper squirter pump. it should b on the jug or the wiper motor. depends on year of car..
maybe some one rigged up a drink maker.. we did that back in highschool(long time ago!). we could make mixed drinks going down the road.
we also used them to spray the road with VHT but it was all mounted in the trunk..

Weird, mine looks different than that, hard mounted to the firewall. Or at least from what I recall.

Looks exactly like one to me and my washers do not work currently. However, the arm is broken on the steering wheel too. I traced the hose from the jug and it goes to a motor thats attached to the wiper motor housing. One of the hoses has a check valve looking thing as a TEE with a line coming off it that just hangs below the pwr brake booster connected to nothing, figured it just drained/vented on the ground.
Im stumped as I dont know if its factory or aftermarket

I just bought this from a member here, he claimed everything was bone stock, everything worked runs great....needless to say it has alot of issues, washers and this thing is just one of the many Im trying to iron out.
I really appreciate everyones help

After looking at this car, it used to have a seperate rear windshield wiper (hatch has been changed but glass has scratches). I bet thats what its for.
Was there a seperate switch/washer for rear windshield wiper?

ive never seena 3rd gen with a rear wiper.....

rear wiper indeed, my 83 z28-E has the same pump.
You can just see the top of it w/ connector w. green wire next to the MC
underside of rear hatch, motor stuffed under bulge

it would be handy, however the previous owner of mine must have used the wiper with a bad blade and just let the metal screech across the glass....its all scratched up and needs replacing now.
