My Car Playing Knock Knock Jokes

I have a 355 v8 with non world class t5 5speed. motor is new with less than 500 miles, Trany has about 8k miles on it. But clutch kit is all new.
Ive got a Deep Knocking from around the Back of my motor to sumwhere inside my tranny bell housing. Ive let people listen to it and most everybody says its my motor knocking. but im not convinced.

My car was running and driving fine, till i noticed a small transmission leak, Tail shaft seal was leaking so i replaced it, and thought may as well drain and refill fluid. I was told it whould be fine to put in ATF insted of 90w gear oil, and it was actually preferred by many people cause atf makes it shift smoother. i filled it up with ATF and i started my car and thats when it started Knocking!.

I drove the car about 2miles because i thought maybe the tranny wasnt lubricated enuff. My Motor does not seem to run sluggish or abnormally in any way! in fact if i rev up the knock goes away. Its only when at idle do u hear the knocking.

Ive drained the atf back out and put gear oil back in and it still knocks. I can drive the car fine! Shifts good goes in every gear fine! i can even get down on it and give it all its got and no problems. Just ideling has a Knock.

I can press in the clutch and the knock quietins down alot but u can still hear it slightly. and some wat BARELY feel the knock in my foot while clutch is in. People swear its in my motor but idk see how if i can rev up to 2k rpms and knock is gone! motor idles smooth and has no loss of power. I believe its somewhere inside my bell housing. But another thought could be inside my tranny itself? Cause it didnt make noise till the fluid swap. Did ATF eff up my tranny? if so y is it so highly recommended to put in ATF insted of the Gear oil!?

I know im looking at removing the tranny to find out but anyone got any idea wat im getting into? is it hard to remove t5 from the car. I have no lift so my idea was to southern style build my own ramps out of synder blocks, 2 rows wide 3 blocks up over a narrow drain ditch. ill have just over 3ft clearance. i think that whould be enuff to get tranny out?

My idea is to remove trany from the bell housing to take out. With bell housing still on, start my car and listen for the knock. if i dont hear a knock, then its in my tranny, if i hear a knock then ill remove the bell housing and clutch kit. Fire up my motor again and if there is still a knock its my motor, if no knock then somethings wrong with my clutch kit area.

i dont have the funds to pay a shop. Id rather attempt this myself and save. I was quoted price and 3 diff shops around here where all close to same price. Cheapest was 250$ JUST to remove the tranny, 250$ to reinstall. thats 500$ for removal and reinstallation, thats not including watever the problem is, additonal costs to fix it.

Does anyone have any idea wat my knocking could be? Could it still be my motor even if i rev up 1500 to 2k rpms and knock is gone? Or when i press clutch in and the sound goes away a lil? I wana say my problem is Throwout bearing or Pressure plate, clutch or in the trany since i replaced the fluid and it suddenly started to knock. any ideas?
