Another Rebuild Won't Start
I just rebuilt my 305 TBI in my 1990 RS using info from this site. (never did anything like this before). The engine cranks but will not fire. It turns over slower than before the battery is on its way out. I'm not sure if that is the reason its turning over slower. I was thinking that it could be that I didn't tighten my rockers enough. I tightened them by rotating the push rods until I couldn't rotate them any more that tightened the nut another 1/2 turn. Might need to tighten them another 1/4 turn or so. With the timing mark at 0 the rotor is pointed at the #1 position. Just in case I was out by 180 degrees I pulled the distributor and rotated 180. When I turned the engine over fuel was forced out the tbi so I pulled the distributor again and turned it 180. I confirmed that I have fuel and spark. I checked and cleaned all the grounds The motor sounds like it wants to go. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Back off the rockers, you probably have them too tight if you did it that way. Jiggle the push rods up and down and when all that slop is gone, then go another 1/2 turn. Does it sound like it has compression or is it free spinning? Have someone crank the key while another twists the distributor. Make sure you have the correct firing order and charge up the battery.
