Timing Question - Need QUICK reply!!!

Hi All,

A question for the techs here. Have an 90% original 1982 WS6 LG4 Trans Am with 105,000 miles. Of course, the Chevy 305 needs a pick-me-up with a new timing chain. I'm also going to have most of the other front end stuff changed out - water pump, fan clutch, alternator, thermostat, etc... by a shop this Monday.

My question is about the chain. Under the standard cover on the 305s, can you fit a double roller chain? I'd like to have a heavy duty chain in there. If the original cover won't fit a double, any recommendations on the strongest single chain? I only have a couple days to buy the part before the car heads to the shop.

The car is currently a daily driver, but will get a freshening up next year. I appreciate any and all suggestions. Thanks

Nathan

No problem fitting a double roller under the stock timing cover.
