Re: odd no start issue

Did the dist. come w/ a new ignition module? They are heat senstive.
You need to get some tools to figure this out.
When it acts up next time check...
spark-you'll need a spark tester or use a screw driver inserted into the plug wire.
fuel pressure, you can buy or rent on at the auto chain stores like a-zone, adv. auto, ect...
injector pulse- noid light that hooks into the injector connector, it should flash when cranking. Rent one IDK? Buy, yes, the stores should have that as its a common type.

Re: odd no start issue

when you say it wont fire do you mean it wont start, or wont crank over?

if it wont crank over then its heat soak on the starter.
if it wont start then its possible heat geting to the module.

Re: odd no start issue

module is new, came with dist. engine turns over but won't start. fuel pressure at the rail is good. going to check resistance in the injectors.

Re: odd no start issue

id check to make sure you have spark and that the injectors are pulsing. if both of those things are happening then the timing has to be off.

Re: odd no start issue

I had a similar problem with another car, came to find out that the problem in mine was a bad head gasket because pressure was getting let out and it would heat engine and would shut off when it got too pressurized. what noises does it make? any stalling at sometimes?

Re: odd no start issue

k. but this is what happened with mine. it had a bad gasket and i didnt know but it would turn off periodicly and i kept driving it. it would run but once i hit freeway or a 50 road it would stall so id pull over and itd turn off so id wait about 20 minutes and id get it running again. also a quick question is does ur antifreeze push out?

Re: odd no start issue

head gaskets are good, engine has less then 2k miles since rebuild. resistance check on injectors found only 3 of them have 16 ohms resist. pulling the plug off the #1 injector will let it start and run.

Re: odd no start issue

sounds like #1 injector might be stuck open causing the engine to flood out. does the oil smell like gas?

Re: odd no start issue

id do an oil change after getting new injectors before driving it. if oil got into the gas it needs to be changed.
