I have a 89 camaro with a 2.8 and won't crank it has power battery is new and alternator is new all lights come on. I took the starter to autozone they said the starter was good what else could it be?

 

Does the ignition key have a chip? Might be a VATS issue.
Check for...
12v all the time at big wire on the starter.
12v at the small wire on the start only when cranking.
Make sure the starter has a good ground to the block.

 

Did you actually see and hear the starter work at Autozone? Some of those guys are flacky.

 

I heard a buzzing sound like they hooked it up to streight power like a electric motor lol but I guess that's what it is. I'm going to try to check out the wiring today as for a security system I know that the 89s are supposed to have it but my car has been a repo a few time in its life and some where down the road they changed the key and it doesn't have the chip
