Re: need performace mods ideas
thanks it is helpful. now what if i went with an edelbrock performer head with a 60cc would it be better or worse for performance? i plan on getting a 570 cfm holly street avenger carb a performer intake, headers, exhaust, and possibly a cam.

Axle/Gears: Posi and?
Re: need performace mods ideas
It doesnt say what gears you have but if your cars an auto stock you probably have tall gears. Lower gears and a posi does alot. Same would some bigger back tires
Re: need performace mods ideas
An intake is definitely a good idea. The stocker is a horrible piece on these engines. They have a decent (not great) cam too but I'd do the exhaust long before I did the cam. I wouldn't be afraid of the Q-jet but would want something like a Performer RPM with an adapter plate.
Later on if you want to dig deeper into the engine I'd probably wind up with some porting on the heads as well as a bigger cam something probably in the 215@.050 duration on the intake.
I am seeing the front page info says 3.42s are what you'd have stock with a 305HO T/A and an auto. Great all around gears some 3.73s may help but you're in good shape with what you have. A lot of the V8 cars came with 2.73s though. Another thing you can do is add some stall to make it launch better and stay in your desired RPM range. The S10 converters are cheap enough although I don't believe your 700R4 will use one. You may be able to do the "D5" converter used in a Buick Grand National but don't quote me on that.
