coolant temp sensor question

hey guys,

so i tested my coolant temp sensors' connector and as per some instructions followed, it states that the car while on and at running temp it should be at no more than .5volts. at cool temp its at .6 and at regular driving temp (220 degrees) it jumps to .9

So, does this mean my computer is shot??

i do get ground its constant at 12volts. thanks for the help

Not sure what that means...

Disconnect the connector and measure it (the sensor) using the ohms (resistance) function. SHould be in the neighborhood of 700-750 ohms when running, a few thousand (k) when cold.

Computers almost never go bad there. I would say "never" except that there's probably one, somewhere sometime, that did, so I would be a liar. Whatever is going on, nothing you have said so far sheds any light at all on the state of the computer, nor is checking the voltage at the connector likely to ever do so.

Why are you measuring this in the first place? I take it there's some history?

idk anymore either.. ive changed the cts at least 4 times. the plug also... basically this is whats going on. at cool running temp, car idles and revs up with no hesitation. as soon as it warms up to 220 t0 240 it stutters as you rev it up. then turns off. it gets to the point that the car cant be accelerated without bogging the life outta it. new iac, its, map, egr is good, that other thermosistor that goes in the air cleaner is new, no vaccuum leak, new fuel pump,...... the one thing i havent changed is the fuel tank which i will do cuz before my filter was getting clogged.
funny thing is, if i turn off the car at 220 degrees, give it like 15 seconds, restart, it revs up with no hesitation, then slowly goes back to acting up and before you know it, completely bogs out.

id hate to sell it cuz its a gorgeous car but im getting to my wits end with it.

thats why im assuming its the ecm. i had a grand cherokee that showed the dame symptoms sort of and it ended up being the pcm after putting about 800 bucks in all other parts. im not trying to go down that route

No that's not the ECM.

I have 2 Bland Cherokees myself; one 6-cyl, one V8. The 6-cyl one did something similar once, was the fuel pressure regulator. Which sounds ALOT like what you've got going on.

What's the fuel pressure WHILE IT'S SCREWING UP? (not while it's sitting in the driveway running fine)

You might want to check out this thread, a lot of people are having very similar problem. What you say about temp, and symptoms are very similar to what going wrong with other cars.
