hey guys my car idols at 1500 until i drive it about 10 mins then it jumps up to 3500 and stays there. all the vacuum lines have been replaced. ive recently put a new trans and axle in dont know if that makes a difference?

are you sure the RPM gauge isn't jsut reading high? I can't imagine that car being drive-able at all if what you say is true

 

yeah my engine is screamin and it idles along at 60 mph

 

for anyone to help you we need to know engine/transmission, EFI or carb, and as much detail about your car's setup as possible

 

He has a 91 rs 350 throttle body injection 700r4 trans

 

my 92 camaro rs sometimes does the exact same thing. i had my head gaskets replaced along with alot of cooling parts about 7 months back, when i got the car back it has not overheated once but a new problem occured. it idles weird and acts up after i take it on long trips. RPM's jump up-down,stalls, sometimes it runs perfect and sometimes i can hardly get it home. i'v put a new MAP sensor, TPS, replaced plug for IAC(broken) and replaced 1 injector(broken), replaced the IAC and fuel filter. i suppose i'v replaced everything to do with fuel delivery except the EGR valve and fuel pump.

 

so a 305 TBI car swapped to a 350... Hmmm can you still contact who ever did the swp? that would be a good place to start. Did it jsut randomly start idling high?

 

the shop that did the swap is long gone but i started spraying carb cleaner and i think it might be my intake manifold gasket that the only place i sprayed anything changed could that cuase such a severe problem
