Horn?
Horn?
Hey guys, when I bought my 85 z28 the horn did not work. I know it was not connected to the steering wheel. I don't know if the guy before me took it out or not or it just got disconnected or something. So I'm wondering if anyone knows where the horn itself is located on this car so I can check it out. someone please answer lol thanks

Re: Horn?
I just replaced the entire steering column on my 1988 Firebird.
First/easiest place to check is pop off the cover on your steering wheel (if it's the same as mine, square panel between the buttons). Underneath you'll see red wires leading to your horn button and a black one that grounds out on your steering column/center.
Not sure if there's a fuse for the horn, but look at simple fixes before anything else.

The horn 'wire,' which has two small plastic arms, passes through the turn signal cam and is held in place by inserting an arm in a notch in the cam. Occasionally, the notch will be broken so that the wire can't make contact. The wire and cam can be seen in the following link:

EDIT: There are two types of horn wires, depending on steering wheel:
