vortec heads

I just picked up a set of 062 heads that have all brand new stock parts on them and wondering if I am going to have a problem running a 2032 cam. Only reason I am asking is I have searched and see a few different opinions on the max lift..450 and some say .480. Let me know what your thoughts are. Thanks

Re: vortec heads

I'd talk to comp cams, they make some springs that help you get more clearence.

Re: vortec heads

The valve springs is not the cause of the clearance issue. It the retainer to seal clearance. The limit is typically .480 lift" before you run into issues. If you are referring to the crane 2032 compucam with .452"/.465" lift than you should be good. You may want to consider changing the valve spring, but that cam is mild enough you might be able to get away with stock springs. A common upgrade at my shop for a cam that size on vortec heads is GM ZZ4 valve springs. Direct replacement.
