Cynlinder Head Selection OCD
So it is finally time to rebuild my L98, and its getting rebuilt from the floor up. Its been awhile since I've built a motor and I always used camel back heads because they were proven performers. With the large selection of modern heads available, and the rather sorted details/reviews of them, I'm having trouble on which ones I want to pull the trigger on and purchase. I was trying to keep the cost around 1000$ for heads and there seem to be a decent selection around that price point. Butt quite frankly after reading for hours there is only one thing everyone seems to agree on, AFR is the only one worth spending money on. While they no doubt make fantastic heads I'm sure there are other companies that still do also. So the options I'm looking at are:
Brodix IK 200
ETEC 200
Trick flow Super 23
Reworked Vortecs L31
Or anything else in the 1000$ range worth trying.
I want heads that flow well in the mid lift range .200-.400, that don't drop off horribly in the upper lift range either. Im planning on a cam with a max lift in the .550 range (hyd roller). I've read bad and good about every head out there cept AFR and am just trying to sort through it. Tired of trying to sort through all of the buddy of mine had these stories.

Definitely go with AFR heads. I have used their heads on several engines and Tony Mamo of AFR is a personal friend of mine. He has always taken care of me and my friends, clients, etc.

I'm trying to stay away from dropping 1500$. I know they are the best, but it can't honestly make it pointless to own anything else.

Brodix, DART's, or AFR's. That's what I'd choose. Don't get so caught up in flow numbers, though.. as the overall design of the head is more important than flow numbers. Trickflow's are decent, but I don't know many people running them outside of the Ford crowd.
I chose DART.
I chose DART.

After some more reading and research it looks like I am gonna go with Pro-Flier 195cc heads. Read a lot of good things about them and the numbers look good. 1100$ assembled and shipped makes for a good price point too.
