Re: Engine Bay Cleaning

Get a can of engine cleaner... can be had for five bucks at any parts store. Spray it all over everything, scrub with stiff bristle brush if it's really dirty, rinse off with the hose. Try to avoid the distributor and coil; you can cover them with a plastic bag and tape if you're really worried but I've never had issues. Don't use a pressure washer because it can force water into weatherpack plugs and gaskets. Don't get water or cleaner in your intake, it will wreck your mass air flow sensor and potentially damage the engine if a large quantity gets in. Don't use the brush on your radiator as it will bend the fins.

Re: Engine Bay Cleaning

Yes, I would not use gas to clean the engine bay. I would not use gas on anything that is painted.

Re: Engine Bay Cleaning

If you dont care about the paint go ahead but I think a good degreaser would be better. Something like Purple Power. Either one will eat at the paint though. If you car about the paint......just use a good dishwashing liquid that is good on grease. It usually says it on the bottle. Use that and have a few different size scrub brushes and a couple old tooth brushes and scrub your **** off!!!! Good luck either way
