Rear End HELP

This is my first post/thread.

I have a 1992 RS 25th anniversery Camaro 5.0 thats been converted to carb. no computer in the car. and has been converted to 5 speed.

Iv had the car for 2 years and wanted to do a brake job on it.
the car came stock with iron drum rear brakes but the car has rear disk brakes on it. my car has an E brake and cable but no where on the calipers to hook them up. I need help figureing out what kind of rear end it is. both my calipers are on the back side of the rearend. havent measured the disks yet but i will if needed. the code on the rearend is 6HP C 044 2.

Im just wanting to get new brake pads and whatever else to make the E-Brake work. thx.

What is it about the rear u wanna know?. Gear ratio? easiest way is to pull the rear cover.Numbers are stamped on the ring gear. Count the bolts on the cover to see if u have a 10 bolt or if someone swapped in a 9 bolt.

Re: Rear End HELP

You might want to take a picture of the calipers for identification instead of using the suffix code. are the aluminum pbr's or cast iron calipers ? or measure the axle to axle difference 4th gen is 2 inches wider on each side.

Welcome to TGO, Chad.

If both calipers are on the backside, they're single-piston alum PBR calipers with 11.7" rotors (from an 89-97 car). They should have parking brake cable provisions. If not, you're missing parts. Check the following link for pics:

Re: Rear End HELP

on the rear passenger side calliper the brake fluid like hooks up at the front of the calliper closest side to the accel. both rear callipers are on the back side of the accel.
the callipers it pulls up for my car the passenger side is suppose to be on the front of the accel. atleast thats what im getting from the way the callipers are in the pics cause there a little different from mine.

Re: Rear End HELP

Maybe go to rockauto.com and select the s10 year you think and look up the rotor demensions and also do 98 camaro! I think that year had the internal e brake like mini shoes.

You can also take a part number and convert it to acdelco like the pad pn and see application used.

Had you checked my first link, we could have put an end to the PBR question and saved a bit of time. The company in the second link I provide sells a PBR kit.

Good luck with your project.
