2.8 chevy camaro help
2.8 chevy camaro help
I picked up a 88 chevy camaro last year for 500... I bought it from my cousin and he told me it was running fine and he drove it home shut it off and the next day it never started. After that it set for a few years before I bought it from him.
I figured it was some thing simple and found the fuel pump wasn't working so I replaced that and got the car to start. Right away the car would rev up very high then it would rev down low then rev back up. I replaced the Mass air and the TPS. I never could get the TPS adjusted correctly no matter what I did. I am starting to think it could be the ECM? also the gauges all seem whack(oil, rpm gauge) If any one has any ideas to help me get this thing driving again please let me know.
The car has only 80,000 miles.

What do you mean, you couldn't get the TPS adjusted correctly? You set it up, and then the voltages don't return to the correct values? That'd mean it's broken, but a bad TPS won't cause the engine to rev way up like you described, just hunt around a bit. Try disconnecting the idle air control and see if the idle remains constant... if so, that's likely the problem.

Re: 2.8 chevy camaro help
Ok I am needing a little help... I noticed when turning the car over my gauges go up. For example the MPH OIL gauge both go up as I am turning the car over. I get no indicator lights at all when I turn the key the check engine light doesnt even come on at all . So I pulled the computer disconnected it and tried cranking the gauges still bug out when turning the car over.
Any ideas? I did notice the computer is a re-manufactured one.

Re: 2.8 chevy camaro help
ok with a new tps the car is starting and idling sounds a little high tho. Now the problem I am having is if I even slight touch the pedal it bogs down and cuts out but picks back up as soon as I let off.
If I push the pedal super slow I can get it a 1/4 of the way down but the car chokes and sputters.
Ill test the fuel pressure tomorrow and see what that says.
