Okay, so sometimes when I start my car it makes that noise cars make when you go to start it and the car is already started, and it will do this for one, two or three cranks and then the car comes starts.

Is that the starter going on me?

or bad teeth on your flywheel. It's a couple wires and two bolts to pull the starter, pull it out and take a look

don't forget to disconnect the battery first. That Light and spark show can be unnerving when you're in close proximity to it.

Re: Tell me it's NOT the starter! 92 RS

Be glad it's the starter. It's one of the cheaper simpler repairs you can make.

I'd buy a used one or a cheap ebay LT1 starter. They're chinese and unreliable, sure, but I dont think the reman LT1 starters are much better than the ebay LT1 starters that cost 1/3 as much.

Otherwise there should be some GM starters on craigslist somewhere for $15 if you really want to be cheap.

Here you go. Starters starting (get it?) at 37 bucks from OReilly's

http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/se...eyword=starter

Just remember to tip it to get it out.
