Fuel pump problem maybe?

Hey guys, need your help on something. A couple nights ago, I went to go see my girlfriend after work. Car started up just fine as it always does. Drove to her house, hung out for a couple of hours, went to leave, car wouldn't start. It was pouring down rain and my hood shock went out so I had no really way to figure out what was wrong. Got up this morning and messed with it. I don't hear my fuel pump priming when I turn the key on. I had her turn the key for me while my head was under the car and I heard nothing. So I ran to Autozone to get a fuel pump relay hoping that would solve the issue. I couldn't figure out which of the two relays on the firewall was the fuel pump relay so I tried the new relay on both of them, still no power. Over the past few months I've had it sometimes shut down on me while driving out of the parking lot right after starting up. It always acts odd when it first starts up but it's fine after it gets warm. I've never had a fuel pump go out before, but from what I've heard fuel pumps tend to progressively go bad before they just stop working completely. Another thought I had is that it could be the Oil Pressure Sending Unit, correct? I'm kinda stumped but I need to get it fixed soon. I don't like leaving it in places I can't keep an eye on it. Any suggestions?

I am afraid if you don't hear your pump priming, that's the problem. You can also check your fuses to see if you blew a fuse. Maybe you'll get lucky.

To test if it's your pump, unplug the relay and run a jumper wire from the orange wire to the gray wire in the relay harness. You can easily do it with a short piece of scrap wire. If you can hear the pump then it's still okay and you've got a problem with the relay connector. If not, it's most likely the pump.

I was looking for a "fuel pump" fuse but I couldn't find one. The only thing I knew of was the relay. Does anyone know if there is a fuse located somewhere I can check?

It should be in a little weather pack connector screwed to the passenger side of the engine bay. Pretty far forward in the bay, almost at the battery.

Is it a little black box on the radiator support with 4 wires going into the bottom of it? I saw it when I was tinkering around I saw that but I didn't suspect a fuse to be in there.

Nope it should only have 2 wires going to it. It's in between the battery and coolant reservoir. I'll take a picture if you still can't find it.

Just noticed you have TBI, I really don't know if it will be in the same place or if there even is one, I only have experience with TPI cars. Maybe look around on the TBI subforum?

No, you were right. I found it, its located exactly where you described. I never even noticed it lol. Well pulled the fuse and it was a good, tried a new fuse for good hope but that wasn't it. Guess my next objective is to jack it up and take an ohm meter to the plug going into the fuel pump. I really hope it's not the fuel pump
