Re: Good wrench 350 or 355

The 355 was built with at least an intention of performance. The Goodwrench 350 was a low-output replacement truck engine.

What about the heads, will I have to look into replacing them down the road, I'm not looking for a 200mph car just something decent

Depends which 305 heads are on the 355, but consider that the Goodwrench 350 comes with the worst of the worst.

The heads on both of them aren't very good IMO. I'd be anticipating replacement if you really want any decent power out of the motor.. and he didn't tell you what cam was in it?

Re: Good wrench 350 or 355

87 Silvy = TBI swirlies

I'm not sure which is worse, the 993s on the Goodwrench 350, or the swirlies on the other 350. Which is worse.... monkey poo, or dog poo? Too close to call.

A "large cam" jammed under swirlies is pretty much a recipe for being as slow as a slug.

I personally wouldn't buy either one. Not sure I'd accept either one as a gift even. Are you sure these are your only choices?

Re: Good wrench 350 or 355

i was thinking about trying to get a cheap set of vortec heads and put on the 355 bottom end, now he said its an 86 and up motor so does that mean the vortec heads will bolt right to the holly intake or do i need a different intake. Im waiting for the federal government to pay up, go figure, but i found a set of vortec 5.7 heads in harrisburg which is an hour from me

If it doesn't have vortec heads already, you'd need a new intake.
