q-jet/ exhaust...

about a year ago i replaced the 305 in my 87 camaro with an 80 camaro 305
the heads didnt match up to my manifolds si i obviously have an exhaust leak
but i put a different secondary hangar on my q-jet and at wot sometimes my exhaust leak goes away... and the q jet sound goes away
and the car boggs a little from being too rich

What is making the leak go away?

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.

The leak isn't going away, it's just changing the sound it makes so you don't hear it the same.

The bog isn't from being too rich, it's from being too lean. Check out the tech article linked from the thirdgen.org homepage about tuning your q-jet for performance.

Out of curiosity, why did you change the engine?

Re: q-jet/ exhaust...

i spun a bearing in it
168xxx miles...
i know its rich bc i put smaller metering rods in so at wot i know its rich
and i listen close
the engine gets quiet
i can hear my belts and my lifters ect...
but the q-jet and leak go quiet
you would have to hear it to understand

A bog is not caused by being too rich.

Did you read the tech article?
