3rd gens with BBC pics and Info Needed please!
welp i pulled the 305 out of my car about 2 years ago with the intentions of painting the engine bay and cleaning it up to be real nice. and after the last years ive really neglected it and not wanted to put in a 305. so the car sits in my parents driveway while im away in the military. and ill be heading back close to home at the end of the month. i have SEVERAL 454s at my expense. all marines ill have to convert back to regular motors. im wondering what are some issues you guys run into. my biggest concern im gonna find i believe is i want to run the stock dash and controls with no changes. does anyone know anywhere i can send my harness and get it converted/modded to run a plug and play on a 454 carbed motor? or even if i can just get the basics and not have to worry about VATs. i can run autometer in my cowl hood for the vitals of the engine as i plan on doing anyway, but really wanna make sure i atleast get mph, tach and fuel and all on the dash.
and like stated any pics of some BBCs in a 3rd gen. im not looking for super crazy strip cars. i wanna see street driven cars, cause this will be my nice weather cruiser i wanna go up and down the road with nice street manners but when im ready....
she wont have a problem itll be backed with a built 700R4 and a stock 10 bolt til i shatter it, then itll get another stock 10 bolt till i can save up for a 9" or a dana.
Any info and pics would be great. this is hopefully gonna be a completed project atleast drivable for OC MDs fall cruise at the end of summer, then put her up for the winter to clean the interior up a little and be ready for summer of 2013 to cruise New Jersey/ Delaware and MD ALOT!

Passenger side manifold didn't fit so rule out running manifolds. Headman makes a set of headers for like a monte carlo that fit with minimal massaging of the floor pan.

yea thats a definate must im gonna be running either hooker or headman, or finding possibly block huggers, but i wanna try and run the longest runners i can. do you have yours running? did you do anything to the front suspension? can you run the stock kmember with BBC mounts and stiffer springs? i have my coils on mine cut so the car at the rockers and bumpers are about 4 inches off the ground she sits VERY VERY low, so im sure ill have to figure something out so i dont scrap when i put the BBC in. howd you do the wiring? did you just run what you need to run the motor? starter, coil, alt, sensors and leave the rest alone?
me being dumb for a min. since ill be running a carbed setup i wont need my computer or anyhting right? but my concern would be with the trans i know a 700r is a computer driven trans (and i wanna keep O/D) how could i get around that, running the motor old school without much wiring and get rid of the rest of the wiring

You can get rid of the ECU.
To keep the original gauges, swap the senders to the Bigblock. You will most likely need adaptors for the water temp sender & oil pressure, not exactly positive, but you will need to keep the senders.
Do not remove the BufferBox or VSS. You don't need the ECU to keep the speedo working.
That's all I can pitch in, sorry not much!
Good luck

If it was a TBI, keep the throttle cable.
You will need a geometry corrector for the TV cable. Get the one for the carb you use--
There's 1 for Holley style carbs & 1 for Qjet // Edelbrock style carbs.
