Strange noise when accelerating directly after braking

When I slow down from a decent speed then accelerate immediately, I hear a funny noise. Sounds comparable to a diesel engine but it comes from the center of the car in front of the dash. The engine will slightly bog and it seems as if the trans failed to shift down or something. This sounds like a gear, a chain or maybe valves. It is a metallic sound almost like when someone taps their finger tips on a table in succession. Once I press the gas it will begin to disappear then within a few seconds maximum power comes back and it takes off. This sound occurs most commonly when I slow to turn off of the highway then attempt to accelerate again. This sound does not occur when slowing down but only when I begin to accelerate and only directly after slowing down without stopping. If I stop then go the sound does doesn't occur. Any ideas?

Re: Strange noise when accelerating directly after braking

My car makes sort of a sound like a diesel engine but it only does it when I have very light acceleration at low speeds. Since mine doesn't happen unless I purposely do it it doesn't annoy me. In fact I think its awesome and sounds cool. Also only happens right after braking. But then again it rarely happens.

'87IROCZOWNER69, does it feel like you have a loss of power?

Re: Strange noise when accelerating directly after braking

Well when I make it make the noise it does like to stay in gear a little longer than normal which makes it feel like its losing power but really I don't think so.
