This will probably get moved to transmissions and drivetrain, but these 5 speeds are supposed to be the NewVenture 3500. Fullsize halftons used the NV3550HD. They are all rated for at least 350 ft-lbs, and are stronger than a T5. Beware of the version with the 4.03:1 first gear, better to use the version with the 3.50:1 first, and even so you will find that 3.42:1 is too much axle. Fifth is supposed to be 0.73:1 with the 3.50:1 first, and a 2.73:1 axle would be okay with a mild engine.
As far as installation, I think you will have to change your yoke, try to get the S10's driveshaft to take care of this. These used hydraulic clutch release, so this could be a snap or a real hassle, I don't know. T5s were installed canted 17 or 18 degrees, while the NV is not cant-able, so you may have to pound on your trans tunnel with a BFH. Lastly, the shifter. There are really no options but to modify the S-10 shifter, the stick is long, and no telling where it will want to pop through your center console.

Atilla is correct, the T5 does mount slightly turned which the S10 trans does not, and the shifter is in a completely different spot, without serious mods this will not work. In my opinion this would be effort not well spent, but thats just my opinion.

On the other hand, it's cheap, easy to get, and about comparable to an old Tremec TR3550. The good ratios for this ate much like the '85 2.8L's T5: in this case, second is 2.14:1 which is great in town with a mild axle ratio, and third is 1.39:1, while fourth is 1.00:1.

i myself contemplated this a few times as they seem pretty tough. believe they use a 32 spline output shaft. shifters seem to be in the same spot. im trying to upload a pic but it aint working out to well of them all compared side by side

vetteoz -
New Venture 3500 with a Borg Warner T5 tailshaft housing?
The tail shaft dosnt unbolt from the nv 3500.
fireburdluvr85 -
With Our-T5, note how far back the shifter is on the tailhousing. neither of those in the pic is for Our cars. Output spline count doesn't matter either.
I appreciate the thought process, just overlooking the info I gave ya.
