hey fellas. can anyone give me the specs for the timing on a 84 305 carb engine. I changed out the intake and the manifold only to find I need to also change out the Distributor with a vac Advanced one. I would assume that 6 degrees before TDC at idle with the vac unhooked. can anyone tell me more so I can get this right the first time? The MSD street fighter I bought has adjustable vac advance. Just need more knowledge.

If you've ditched the computer controlled carb and distributor you're back to an "old school" type engine. Which means old school timing specs. 10-12* initial to get you in the ballpark. That's with the vacuum advance disconnected and the idle at it's lowest RPM so you aren't kicking in the centrifugal advance at all while setting the base timing.
