too much fuel pressure?
im running a edelbrock 1407 carb (750cfm) on my 350. the paperwork says not to run more than 6.5 PSI fuel pressure. i have a 80gph @ max 8 psi pump i wanna put on. it seems like the carb should be able to handle that. is the paperwork just covering edelbrocks *** or do i really need to run a regulator on such a mild pump?

Even with the 8PSI pump, you'll want to run a regulator to keep it 6.5 PSI or less.

Mallory 4309.
If your stock pump doesn't have trouble keeping up with the needs of your engine, there's no benefit to be had from changing it.

Re: too much fuel pressure?
7.5 PSI is the most that any of my Edelbrock carbs can handle, and I have a bunch of them.
Anything after that and they will flood intermittently, depending on conditions, slope, vibration, g-forces, etc...
There are ways to make them handle more pressure, but it's a lot of trouble.

Re: too much fuel pressure?
I think the OP's question may have been "will the larger carb make a difference in his performance?" That depends on what mods have been done to the motor. On a stock motor, a larger carb will have little effect as it's the heads, cam and intake that really determine performance. If your car has high miles and the carb is worn and in need of an expensive overhaul, you may choose to go with something different. The CCC carbs can be difficult to set up if you don't understand the system or have the correct equipment. If the carb is badly worn(throttle shaft bushings) it may be impossible to tune correctly without having the bushings replaced.
