1987 GTA Hard Start
I have an 87 GTA 5.7 TPI with 60,000 original miles that is not wanting to fire up.I get a crank, but no start. If I pump the gas and crank it ,it will start but I have to keep up the rpms a lil to keep it running or it stalls What is goin on? It also smells too rich and blue smoke comes out tailpipe when finally started that burns your eyes and smells like sulpher? Help me please someone, this cant be just my car.She has started up fine a couple of times and ran perfect, then starts this out of nowhere.Doesnt matter if hot or cold.

Re: 1987 GTA Hard Start
I have an 87 GTA with 60,000 miles that lately its been not wanting to fire up right away and when it does it sputters then stalls.I pumped the gas a couple times and it fired up, then stalled. What is goin on? It also smells too rich and blue smoke comes out tailpipe when finally started
If you're TPI then check to see that it has the cold-start injector (9th) on the driver-side and that it's hooked up.
If it is, then try disconnecting the power wire that plugs to the top of the injector and see if the symptom of hard starting changes any for the better.
Does it only have trouble when cold or all the time?
