Re: How to replace slave cylinder
ok heres the thing.... the in line goes where the yellow cap goes.... the screw one on the rights is the bleeder... thing is mine was so dirty i coudent figure out where the screw was... but it was a pin.. right where the inline goes theres a pin that holds it... also dont forget to put in the 0 ring seal or it will leak... you will have to take the pin out and its a pin in the ***.. actually this one is better quality then the plastic one..

yup.... trick ... pumping the clutch wont be enough to get air put... put the clutch and also push the rod into the cylinder.... problem is the in line and the bleed nut are right next to each other and it totally skips the inside cylinder

Hi Guys,
I'm in the middle of bleeding my clutch and am having a real hard time.
Is there a specific set of steps to do this?

Re: How to replace slave cylinder
I tried bleeding it the way we do brakes.... didn't work very well.
Basically the best thing you can do is just pump it and pump it and watch for bubbles coming up through the master cylinder resevoir. It actually self-bleeds over time.... USe the bleeder to make sure you get all the air out between the slave and the master, but to get air out of the slave itself will just take a while.
I thought I had mine bled enough (changed from a T56 slave to a larger diameter one) and it was supposed to be a softer pedal, so I wasnt sure when it was "normal". I set hte car up on jackstands, turned it on and checked for clutch drag in gear at the rear wheels when thecar was in the air and had none so I called it good. Over the next couple of weeks it stiffened up quite al ot.
So just do what you can, then check it on stands and see if it's close enough to be drivable. As long as the clutch isnt dragging, it's not going to hurt anything.

Re: How to replace slave cylinder
I had to take my slave cyl off and pump it by hand to get all the air out of it before I could even begin to bleed it. Fortunately pumping by hand bled it most of the way. Took two strokes by hand to do it really easy to do.

Re: How to replace slave cylinder
Guys,
I finally got it. It was air in the line.
Here is what I did:
1-filled the slave cylinder with dot 3 fluid ( with bleeding screw loose).
2-install fluid line to slave cylinder.
3-mount the cylinder.
4-fill the reservoir with fluid.
5-wait until the fluid drains out of the bleeder.
6-tighten the bleeder (at this point you have the slave and line fully bled).
7-start pumping the master (short strokes) until you feel pressure.
If this does not work it is becaause you pumped air from the master into the slave.
8-have some one hold the clutch pedle in while you manually push in the slave, open the bleeder.
9-Repaet step 8 again.
While doing this make sure you the reservoir always has fluid in it.
also check out this site, it has great info.

Re: How to replace slave cylinder
What size bleeder screw is that?
Need to replace the rounded out allen key screw with a proper bleed screw.

Re: How to replace slave cylinder
Just a thought... perhaps if you crack open the bleed screw and let it gravity bleed BEFORE you snip the cables holding the slave piston fully retracted, you wont have to bleed it the hard way?
Does anyone think this would work?
