88 gta trans am bogging out when hot or raining

New here but I've used the site on more than several occasions for problems and help with previous threads. But I also want to post the specs of my car to see what you guys think. Still kinda learning the different thread pages as well. So I apologize for anything in the wrong place.

When my car is cool, or when it's cool out, it seems to run great. The service engine light will come on after a couple mins of driving tho. Before, the rpm's would hust jump a couple hundred when i was sitting at a stop light but then go away after a while of driving or when i shut the car off and all. This only happened maybe twice or three times then it never happened again. But after driving in the rain or wet whether it would do the same or get worse and bog out, sometimes fall on its face. Still fine in the sun and nice whether tho. But last week or so when the temp raised to about 80. I noticed that when the car's temp would reach a little over 190 it would start to bog out real bad. When at a stop I would have to pop it in neutral and stay on the gas or it would stall out. When I put it in gear and go it would bog and fall flat-faced even when flooring it. After a couple secs it would catch and take off. And on some cases while it's rolling, the throttle response would be really crappy. I've noticed that when this happens the check engine light will shut off after a couple seconds of this and it'll just get as bad as it has ever been till it comes back on, then it'll just go back to being a little boggy and sluggish. I've ran a computer and it won't pull anything. I tried one of those simple 30$ dudes that make the service light flash x amount of times and the number of the four intervals flashed will mean something. It came out with the problem being the mass air flow sensor. 3334 I believe the sequence was. Also I've noticed that there's a slight whistle(?) from the intake. I was told by my buddy's dad(who works as a mechanic for the military and has built countless jeeps and projects) that the sounds was probably from a air foul on the throttle body. Which there is actually one there when I pulled the intake off to look. But I've heard that it could be a vacuum leak ad well. There's also a slight exhaust leak down by the passenger side door where two pipes connect together. And I've noticed a fuel smell from it, bad enough to smell sometimes while driving it. An it only seems to get worse when all this hell breaks loose. So I'm assuming a fuel problem? Vacuum leak letting unaccounted air in?

But this is a list of specs and details of my car. These are details from the previous owner. The bad this is thy he didn't seem to have any internal specs of the motor if any aftermarket or anything done. I've been told that I'm might have a mild cam from the sound tho. It's 1988 trans am GTA collectors edition

- newer 383 stroker(assuming just a setup[?] on the orriginal 350tpi)
- newer th350 transmission
- cold air intake
- large plugs
- MSD ignition
- new walbro fuel pump
- high volume oil pump 55 psi at an idol(but sometimes seems to be higher till after some time of driving)
- dual flow master exhaust
- headman shorty header that are heat wrapped
- transmission has a shift kit
- new borg warner rear end which is true possi(I'm pretty sure it's a limited slip tho)
- new tie rod ends, ball joints, wheel bearings*
- WS6 suspension
- MSD box with rev limiter and shaker kit
These around 15,000 invested on this car and in the motor is close to 7,500. As from what I was told at least.

Those diagrams help a lot, thanks. What do you mean by the threshold in the EPROM needs to be raised higher than 45 tho?

Re: 88 gta trans am bogging out when hot or raining

With both a 33 and 34 im sure its a maf connection issue or a maf. In the programing on the $32, 32B or 6e for the 1227165 ecm there is a threshold for the code 33 stock its 45g/sec with large displacement cam change, larger tb it can cause the code 33 and the ecm goes into lhm. I usually set this up much higher to avoid this issue

Re: 88 gta trans am bogging out when hot or raining

Do you think it actually be a 383 then? I know it's kinda difficult without the motor to see. But honestly just looking at it, it looks like there's a lot of dress up thrown in there. I don't really have any hard evidence to know for sure if it is or anything has been done to the motor internally.
