Red Hot Header Passager side

I read alot on the board about this topic, but maybe someone could shed more light on my situation. This never happened before. Here is what changed......Replaced spark plugs, replaced module in msd dizzy, and replaced MAF ( with used one).

Here is what caused the situation. was out having fun, I put the hammer down and heard a loud pop in the intake and then my tach when all haywire. Spudder home ( thank god I was a block away) with the engine hot holding an idle and no power.

Found no spark, IE replaced the module, then got spark but engine wouldnt turn over. Next found the maf wires were blown. Replaced that.

Now car starts, wont hold an idle ( have to hold the pedal down) and have red hot header on passager side.

Checked wires to be sure they are in the right order, spark plugs, both sides a black, and there is no carbon lines in the dizzy cap.

its a 383 HSR with a big vodoo cam and 30lbs injectors, and a custom tune. Its never held a great idle, expecally when cold and I was getting a couple of pop thru the intake before durring hard accel. but the car drove well and I was beating on it.

Thanks Guys

I would pull the valve cover on the passenger side and inspect the valve springs and rockers. disconnect the coil and have some one turn it over with the cover off, to make sure every thing is moving like it should. Engine making any noise when running? Good oil pressure yet?

Well the engine has over 1000 miles on it, and everything was ok, except the probs I stated before. So I had oil presessure. I and the valve trail was working.

Re: Red Hot Header Passager side

It was 2 things first and formost, the timing was way advanced somehow. found the sweet spot by hand and then checked it. It likes about 16 degrees advanced. Second didn't have a vaccum hose on the holley adjustable fuel presure regulator. Ran the smoothest since the engine went in!!! Next up Fast EZ EFI
