91 firebird manual cuts out and stalls while driving downhill

I live on a large hill and when driving down in the morning letting the engine brake I would go to accelerate and nothing would happen. If I let out the clutch it stalls immediately. After I get to the bottom of the hill I put the gas halfway to the floor and it just sputters barely enough to stay going and eventually it will stop sputtering and go back to normal like nothing happened . Drives fine up the hill and gas guage reads over half. Tends to happen more when it drops below half a tank but its never anywhere near empty. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Really? You're going to give advice on a 7+ year old thread?

In all fairness to TTop350 , he didn't bump the seven year old thread , the guy before him did . And that is the reason why before I reply to any thread , I read back a few posts to make sure it's actually a live thread , and not some zombie thread that's been necro threaded back to life , Frankensteinian like ...

In 5-10 years whens someones Google search gets them here, it won't be so 'lmao'

Nobody ever thinks about the fact that these posts are referenced for years to come. I've used posts from 2002 when working on my car.

I use lots of old threads too, but this one isn't going to help anyone since the OP never came back for follow up info or resolution. And these younger generation people are too lazy a lot of time to even bother searching. If you spend and time on Facebook, NONE of them ever do research, they just ask for the information to be handed to them and people pitch in when a search will have revealed the info already. So two strikes for your theory.

I can see bumping an old thread to ask someone a question, or someone that had a similar problem got resolution and adds the info into the thread. Those are generally not questioned or ridiculed, problem is the infinite scroll is turned on by default with the newest version of the vBulletin software and people are bumping old threads.
