Crappy Gas Milage

I put 15 bucks *8 gallons* of gas in the night before last. I have driven to walmart, somewhat but not too far to get my new hood, and to the BBQ with my local F Body club, sorta far but not too bad, and It sucked most of it. When I filled, it brought it to 2-3 notches above half, now its just above the orange My check engine light isnt on, and I dont get any error codes. I do have a lead foot but its not THAT bad... Anyone have a clue what to check for first? I get the smell of gas at night when i park in my garage but i dont think its a leak really, i dont see drip spots or anything

thx

I have a 91' RS and it does the same thing, we might have the same problem or it could just be the way they are.

i know that with our airplanes, the only time you'll smell JETA, or 100LL is either when a plane is being filled up, or if there's gas leaking from the tanks somewhere....Walked into one hanger and smelled JETA, and we found a puddle the size of missouri under the engine of our king air, definately no good.....I'd expect the same thing on a vehicle, and also remember, that it doesn't take much gas to recieve the gas smell throughout a small enclosed area such as a garage. The lead foot thing probably isn't helping much, but you should also remember that our gas tanks dont get an accurate reading. Have you ever noticed that when you hit the gas, the gas goes up, when ur on the brakes the gas goes down, and when you first start your car it'll oftentime read higher than it actually is, infact, i started my car the other day, and it was reading 3/4 of a tank, i drove it down the street, and it was reading undr half. This could have bothered me, if i didn't know that i already had less that 3/4 a tank.....good luck on finding your problems, also, 4th gen cars have a plastic gas tank, saves weight and won't rust, in the instance that you're has some problems, i'd say use the late model camaro/firebird tank, should help you out and cause this problem not to happen 20 years from now....

also the 4th gen tank has a baffle so that gas stop thing doesnt happen, lol

Is it the same shape and size ect? My tank is brand new ,the former owner of it changed it

can't speak from 100% experience, but from what i've been told, it's a bolt in, or atleast close to it....
