Car won't start. Need a little help please

Ok. The car was down the most of the winter I had some major timing problems I was able to run it in park for a half hr a week so it didn't just sit and rot away. Well I finally got the timing problem fixed and put a new Accel super coil in and it ran a lot better (still sputtered here and there). Well I've been using my mother-in-laws car all winter, so she had her car today so I had no choice but to use the Camaro well I put it into reverse and started backing down the driveway and when I went to turn, the car just shut off. I tried to start it and it sounds like when a carburetor is flooded. It tried then just stumbled and off again it would only try for about 3 sec and the it would just turn and turn with nothing. Have you ever tried to start your car with the air tube for the TB is off at the TB, it also sounds like that. Any Ideas are welcome. The car is a 1987 Chevy Camaro Sport coupe LT it has a 3.4 MPFI

You got fuel?

With the key on and the fuel test port pressed, do you get any fuel?

I am getting fuel I can smell it. The fuel pump kicks in and sounds normal. I changed the filter right before fall. I have only put maybe about 1500 miles on it since then.

Try this. I'm not sure if you have a 7th injector (cold start) I know for a fact 2.8s do. They tend to stick and they will just flood the crap out of the car. Pull the plugs, they are probably crapp. Make sure you have spark going to ur dist. then to ur plugs. Let me know

would just unplugging CSI work?

wouldn't it be sticking mechanically and not electrically???

If it is sticking it should just throw a code and still leak???

I took my plugs and wires and coil out. Five of the spark plugs were fine and smelled like gas...not that much wear. But the sixth (piston cylinder # 5) was soaked with oil. I can't tell if it was top or bottom. It was completely soaked, caked all over it. So it's either bad valve seal or piston ring. Could this be causing my problem?

The oil fouled plug won't help, probably a valve guide.. but the other five are gas fouled now too. Replace 'em all, you'll probably have much better luck getting her to fire. Don't buy expensive plugs, either, because there's still a chance the next set will end up fouled too.

Well I just cleaned all the plugs. They are like new now. I found a few plug wires that had holes in them and wore away in spots to the wire and one of them were on my coil wire. Well I found some spares I had in my garage that were used but in better condition. So (weather depending) I'll go out and put them back in the car and see what happens....

Does anyone know where I can get the bracket that holds my Coil and part of the EGR system. Mine kinda got broken when I did the engine swap and its only held on by one bolt and it keeps comming loose.

Just a warning, so you're not too let down if it doesn't fire up... I spent about an hour cleaning my fuel-fouled plugs and FILING the electrode to make sure it was 100% perfect... still didn't start.. but it fired up in about .0325 seconds with new plugs.

Coil/EGR bracket would be a junkyard part.

Hopefully the wires were the main problem

All of the Junkyards around me don't have that bracket I need.. Well they mostly crushed all of the V6 Camaro and firebirds. GM discontiniued that bracket they can't even get it.

What all did you do when you adjusted the timing? Was it a bad/sloppy chain? Or did you just mess with the distributor? Sounds to me like the timing is still off a bit.

Is your EGR good? Could be clogged up with junk.

How about the ign. ctl. module. was that changed?

Without it in front of me, I'm just throwing out options and prior experiences here.

Well I can now get it started but thats about it. I just gave it a fresh tune up. And got a Accel Super Coil. It takes for ever to rev up abd when I give it to much gas it dies and when I put it in gear it dies. I have a bad donut gasket. The EGR isn't hooked up it never has been and the car ran ok with out it. It was making a horible scretching sound like my fuel rail was loose well I fiexed that and it still doesn't work. I have a quiet knock coming from the enigne (sounds like its in the Passenger side head). It has a new Timing chain. I have gone over the car time and time again trying to figure something out. When I set the timing I unhook the EST wire put the engine at TDC and set the cam with what my Haynes manual says. And just turn it from there. And it Idles really low.
