Takes forever to fill gas tank?!?
When I fill the gas tank, i have to go really slow or the gas just spews back out of the filler neck. It is only a minor annoyance so if it never gets fixed then so be it, but it sure would be nice to lock it in, instead of manually holding the pump the entire time.
Anybody have any ideas as to why this happens or ideas on how to fix it? Thanks for reading

Just a theory:
Check behind the spring loaded door where the pump nozzle is inserted.
There should be an internal 1/2" diameter vent pipe inside the filler neck running down to the bottom of the tank along the top side to allow the vapor to escape while filling. Should it get clogged it may cause the tank to burp which will make the pump stop flowing.

Just for the sake of more info, there is a recall for your car.

That recall seems to be year specific, but my '88 had a crack almost completely around the neck allowing condensation to entire the tank and ruin it, fuel rails, regulator, all injectors and the fuel lines. Mine being so severe was due it being driven mostly on weekends, giving it plenty of time to make rust and varnish.

Re: Takes forever to fill gas tank?!?
well RBob, you were right, at least partially. the filler neck is connected vial rubber hose. I dont however know if it was b/c of a splice or to cover a crack/leak. I dont see a vent hose at all so im not sure if it was some sort of hack job or what but it will have to wait until daylight tomorrow. Thanks guys for pointing me in the right direction
