Vacuum advance distributor on a TPI motor?
I am wondering if it is possible to put a vacuum advance distributor in my TPI...none of the parts stores have a distributor in stock and it would take a few days to get one in...rebuilt, none new. However they do have the MSD and Accel HEI distributors in stock with vacuum advance. Would it be as simple as dropping it in and running a vacuum line from the intake or is there more to it?
TIA,
Josh

Won't work. The distributor acts as a cam position sensor and tells the injectors when to fire. With an older style HEI distributor, your injectors won't fire and if they are like the 90's silverado's, your fuel pump won't run.

thanks, just wanted to check...this car is currently the bane of my existence...my '79 Porsche 928 is so much easier to work on...the distributor that I have in there now is a stock dizzy, but it's been rebuilt....thinking that it's all in the computer again...
Thanks,
Josh
