EGR Deletion for 350 TPI

I'm thinking of doing this soon. But my real question is could I plug it up temporarily?

My car started idling rough out of control at very low speeds....almost to the point of stalling. I popped the hood and found that the vacumm line at the left was not hooked up. It must of just came off because I hit a bump. It wasn't easy to just stick back in. the engine was hot and somehow it snapped when I attempted to do it :/

So I'm wondering could I just plug that hole up with something temporarily just to stop the rough idle? Like a screw or something....while I think of fixing the issue or just deleting the whole system all together.

Why not just buy new vacuum line at pepboys. Like 6' for $3. Then you have all new lines.

You can temporarily cap both (the vacuum line and egr) with vacuum line caps (sold at any auto parts store). This would make sure that you're not creating a big vacuum leak and the reason that I say to cap the EGR vacuum port is only to keep something from getting in there. Better safe than potentially sorry.

IMO I would just keep the EGR, replace and re-route (if necessary) the vacuum lines and you should be good to go. Again, that is only my opinion and what you do is up to you.

I had a similar problem, just use a length of rubber hose. If your going to delete it soon anyways, it will be a good temp. fix. You can just put the rubber hose over the hard plastic line where it broke and run it to the egr. Ive had people say that the egr gases get too hot but mines been using rubber hose for 6+ months and its fine, ive even inspected the inside of the hose a few times to make sure it wasnt melting away. Itll be fine, especially as a temp fix until you delete it

Whats your reason for wanting to delete it? Its good for the motor and doesnt cost an ounce of power. Fix not throw out.

Also, keep in mind, if you do end up deleting it; you will have to get your prom reconfigured for the EGR delete. If not it will run like crap.
