Are the two heat shields under and beside the gas tank necessary

there were two heat shields when i replaced my fuel pump and we never put them back on there.one was on the passenger side and one under the tank just wondering if they need to be there, there is also no muffler. I need to know so i dont blow up if the tank get to hot?!

it should be fine without them on there, i dont run any heat shields back there but my ex doesnt run to the back of the car. my ex comes off my turbos then exits behind each front tire

If you have an aftermarket muffler below your fuel tank, do not remove the heat shield. You will boil your gas and kill your fuel pump.
