so im starting my project with goals of first getting it driving then over the winter going more or less all out and running low 11's-10's if possible. so i was just wondering what it takes to get these cars down there? im using a standard small block chevy, no fuel injection, probably a good squirt and some 275-60-15's, and a th350.
what will i need suspension wise?
what about drive-train?
how much motor am i going to need?
i know all these seems silly especially seeing as i have built some pretty damn quick cars before ive just never really done much for drag racing and i know nothing about these torque arm jobs.
any help you guys can give me will be greatly appreciated, i just want to get a list started

I hate to sound the "THAT GUY" but hit the drag racing section here, and do a search on stuff.
there are dozens of different combos that will get you to your goals.
Is this a track only car? or a street car with occasional track time?
What your budget?

Low 11's can be done with some serious work. I've got a fully built 355 with excellent parts all the way around it, full aftermarket suspension, built TH350 with a Circle D4200 stall converter. It's all fresh, and I expect once I get everything dialed these next few weeks in I'll hit 11.2's or so. I don't think I'll get high 10's without more work, but it's possible. Sitting at 10.78 compression ratio tuned for 50% 93 Octane and 50% race fuel.
If you want to make it easy on yourself, I say you start looking at a 396 stroker setup if you're starting from scratch... much more displacement and you can spin it to the moon since they're all forged assemblies from the reputable places. That will definitely get you into the 10's.
I'd shoot for 450HP or more if you can. Anything less is probably going to resort in you pulling weight out of the car (if you weren't doing that already).
Also depends on the elevation you're at. I'm at a perfect elevation here.

These cars hook good on stock style suspensions. You'll want a good spring/shock setup as thats primarily where MOST of the suspension control is at. Adjustable shocks are better to dial in suspensions but are alot more money. Then some lower control arms and the relocation brackets to adjust the arm angle as needed. Adjustable torque arm helps set up pinion angles which can help traction but really isnt needed.
Subframe connectors keeps things straight and stiff
Helps the car leave straight and transfer energy to the rear tires.
Dont need alot of special parts there as long as you make the power to get your goals.
Low 11's high 10's on motor would likely need a 383 and good rotating parts as you will need to spin it to 7K or so. My motor would have worked well, it went 11.4's in the heat and likely could have went 11.2's in cold air and more dialing it in. More converter/tuning and it would be a high 10 contender I think and it really wasnt that aggressive.
If you run spray you can build a milder motor and just spray deep 10's if you wanted. My 383 on a 150 hit went 10.6's but the shot seemed to act more like a 125 hit. I ran a 150 nitrous jet but a 75 fuel jet to make it lean enough to make max power. It was pig rich out the box
