alternator problems

Hi I'm not sure If this is the right thread but anyway my alternator was bad i put a new one in along with a new battery and it still dies when you pull the terminal off I'm not sure if it is wired wrong or what but there is a ground on the alternator running to the negative terminal a smaller red wire hooked to the back that runs to the positive terminal and there are 2 small wires brown and green and i don't know where they hook up I don't know if there is a diagram for the alternator out there or what i couldn't find one any help is appreciated thanks also its a 2.8

Im not too sure about the 2.8l. I know alot of people dont like Haynes manuels but you could buy one or just go to AZ and open one up and check what the proper connections (they should say).
