Our camaro sat for 3 years without being started. We installed a new battery in the car and it started right away, but the engine immediately rev'd full out. Just crazy HIGH REVS. The car was turned off immediately. Does anyone have any idea of what this may be?

 

Rusty , bound up from sitting , throttle cable holding the throttle plates open ?

Massive air leak from deteriorated vacuum hoses ?

Cruise control unit somehow AFU'd and holding the throttle open ?

IAC malfunction ?

Little Bro pushing the gas pedal to mess with ya ? (seen THAT happen once)

Throttle plate shaft sticky/binding not allowing it to close to proper idle position ?

Bad return spring for throttle plates ?

There are the first things I'd be lookin for ....
